SPB-60 Draft Filters and Rules
The following draft filters for the upcoming SPB-60 Draft:
The SPB-60 Filler Draft will consist of (2) Drafts. The First Phase will be the
Veteran Players Draft, which will consist of any player meeting SPB
Qualifications that was not a rookie in 1948. This part of the Draft will begin
in mid September. There are exactly 25 Rounds in the Veteran Draft, which
means it will take 5 weeks to complete.
The second phase of the draft will be the 1948 Rookie Draft, which will consist
of all 1948 Rookies. This Draft Will be held in early March 2008.
Draft orders for both draft will be random, but done using a weighted system,
with each pick in each round getting a value, and those values would be added
together across all rounds to insure that there is a level playing field and the
picks are distributed evenly.
The first 7 Rounds of the Rookie Draft will be the exact reverse of the first 7
Rounds of the veteran draft.
PHASE 1 (Veteran Draft)
A. During the 1st 10 rounds of the Veteran Draft, each team will select
no more than the following:
1 catcher
3 Starting Pitchers
1 Relief Pitchers
3 infielders (no more than 1 each 1b, 2b, 3b, or SS)
2 outfielders (any OF position, however each team is responsible for making sure
their starts are covered at all 3 positions)
B. During the next 10 rounds, each team will select the following:
1 primary infielder (either a 1b, 2b, 3b, or ss, whichever position was not selected in
Rounds 1-10)
1 backup catcher
2 outfielders
4 Pitchers (Starters or Relievers)
2 utility infielders (Any IF Position except C), you must have selected all four primary IF
positions before selecting your 2 UT IF's)
C. In the remaining rounds (21-25), teams may choose from any of the
remaining available players.
RULES FOR MAKING SELECTION IN THE DRAFT
This will be an email draft and each team will have assigned times to pick
each day. The draft order and draft times for the first ten rounds (rounds
1-10, Phase 1) will be posted on the SPB-60 web site under Inaugural Draft
Results.
Each team will be given a 30 Minute allotment in which to make their pick. The
30 Minute allotments will remain in place for the entire draft.
For example, if the East Kenosha Lakers draft time is at 2:30pm EST on 9/10, then
Dave would have until 3pm EST to make his choice. If Dave does not pick within
his time block, his pick is passed and the team at 3pm may choose. Dave may
still chime in at anytime to make his pick, but the team that is on the clock
has first dibs on the player if there is a conflict.
If your pick is passed, the draft will proceed as if you had picked, so if the
team after Dave picks at 3pm, the next team at 3:30pm may pick also, and so-on,
and so-on, and so-on......
If the team prior to yours has picked, you may make your pick at anytime, so by
using the example above, if Dave picks at 2:30pm, then the next team can pick
immediately. You may not make a pick until the team prior to yours has picked
OR their time block has passed and yours has begun.
Note: If your team has not picked at the end of the following days picks at 9pm,
your team WILL be assigned a player by league officers, so make sure you get
those picks in...
The bottom line here is to keep things moving. Since you will know your
scheduled time to pick, if you know you can’t be available, just send your list
to me and John Turnbull and one of us will make sure that your pick gets made.
PHASE 2 (Rookie Draft)
Held in March, format will be the same as our standard rookie draft, with the
exception that the draft order will be the reverse order of the 1st 7 rounds of
the Veteran Draft.
After the Veteran Draft as been completed, these pick can be traded, but all SPB
Rules pertaining to the trading of draft picks apply. See constitution.
