I was going through some old score cards from Mets games I’ve been to, when I came across one for Opening Day in 1983, the year Seaver came back home! I always remembered seeing Seaver in 1983, but for some reason I forgot it was Opening Day. That was the day Seaver set the all-time MLB record of 14 Opening Day starts (he would later add 2 more with the White Sox). Opening Day 1983 was one of only 3 games that drew more than 40,000 fans at Shea (all were Seaver starts).
