1906 August Stats Posted.
LAS VEGAS, NV - Stats for August 1906 have now been posted.  The American League Race is coming down to the wire, as there are three teams within 2 games of each other.  The Toledo Maumees have opened a commanding eight game lead in the NL, and might be tough to catch.   Power Rankings have also been updated through August.  Coal City's Elmer Flick (pictured left) is mounting a challenge to Frankfort's George Stone for NL MVP, with his .359 batting average, 104 RBI's and 109 Runs Scored through August.  Should be an exciting race to the finish!

Slight Modifications to Batter and Pitcher Usage for the 1906 season
LAS VEGAS, NV - Due to our offensive surge, the league office has announced some minor modifications for batter and pitcher usage for the 1906 season only.  The changes are effective IMMEDIATLY.

1) Effective for the season ONLY, we allow an additional 50 AB's for batters who hit between .235 and .299. Anyone batting higher than this is limited to their actual number of AB's.

2) For the normal BONUS Players (.234 or under), we will allow an additional 150 AB's instead of the normal 75 AB's.

3) Also, we will be waiving the permanent penalty for this season and moving the Penalty Round to Round 2 of the Draft. Round 4 and up would also still be subject to penalties, but not the permanent penalty.

These pitching changes were made a few months back, so this is just a reminder:

4) ALL pitchers with relief appearances, (no matter what their era) may double their "actual" number of relief appearances. This is good ONLY for relief appearances and not for starts, and effects only pitchers with an ERA of 3.50 or under.

5) ALL Bonus Pitcher Rules will remain the same, with one change, bonus pitchers now will be allowed to "triple" their number of appearances, instead of double them. This is good for all of their appearances, starts or relief.

Veteran manager Greg Stillwagon back on board
LAS VEGAS, NV - Due to the unfortunate passing of longtime SPB Manager Larry Schilling, we have an immediate opening to be filled.  That vacancy will be filled by none other than veteran SPB Manager Greg Stillwagon, who left us after winning the first ever SPB-100 World Series last year.   It is great to have Greg back in the fold.  Welcome back to SPB-100 Greg!

1906 July Stats now posted.  Deadball no more?
WALFORD, IA - Stats for July 1906 have now been posted.  Another great month for SPB-100. The Maumees and Rail are in a dead heat in the National League, while the Bombers have opened a 6 game bulge in the AL. George Stone of Frankfort is the leading hitter with a .381 average. Tim Jordan of the Rail leads in HRs with 12 and SLG at .579. Elmer Flick of the Blue Flames leads in 2Bs (34), runs(81), RBI (86) and is tied with Stone for the 3Bs lead at 15. Evers of the Rail and Sherry Magee of the Giants are tied for the SB crown with 38 apiece. The dead ball does not exist in this league. Avg runs per game are over 1 run higher in SPB-100 than real-life (about 12%) and OPS is .024 higher. With 2 months remaining, SPB-100 has hit 234 HRs while total real life HRs were 263. ERA is 0.42 higher, while CGs are down 11%. Personally, I like the extra hitting.

1906 July Stats now posted.  Deadball no more?
LAS VEGAS, NV - Stats for June 1906 have now been posted.  Another interesting month in SPB-100. In the AL, the Bombers are 2 games up on the Giants, 3 on the Lumberjacks and 4 on the Zephyrs. In the NL, the Rail are 4 up on the Blue Flames and Maumees. The future promises tight races for the respective pennants!  Harry Steinfeldt tore up the National League, hitting a torrid .426 for the league leading Rail, who are also #1 in the Power Rankings.  In the junior circuit, the great Honus Wagner helped lead the Bombers to the division lead, batting .337 with 12 Doubles and a .574 Slugging Percentage.  They must have forgotten this is the deadball era!

SPB-100 Pitching Usage Modifications.
LAS VEGAS, NV - After conferring with Commissioner Chris Williams and our rules committee, we have done a thorough mid-season review of the stats, and determined that due to some usage issues with pitchers, we will be slightly modifying the rules for pitching usage for the rest of the 1906 season.   It seems that we have had and few more high scoring games than normal, and with the high number of errors, relief appearances are up.   So effective immediately, the following rule changes have been made.  Please click here to view the changes.

1906 May Stats Posted.
LAS VEGAS, NV - Stats for May 1906 have now been posted.  Pretty tight races in both leagues, as the Bombers slip in front of the Giants by two games in the AL and the Rail fend off the red hot Blue Flames (18-7 in May) holding a four game lead in the NL. Power Rankings have also been updated through May.  Early MVP candidate, outfielder George Stone (left) of the Fencebusters, is tearing up the dead ball, batting a league high .416, with a .480 OBP and 21 extra base hits.  On the mound, Tully Sparks of the Chicago Rail has been nearly unhittable, going 9-0 with a microscopic 1.07 era in 13 starts.

1906 Trade Deadline Announced
LAS VEGAS, NV -  The trade deadline for the upcoming 1906 season will be Sunday December 18 at 9pm EST. All trades must be submitted for approval by this time. Please look over your rosters again to make sure you have all positions covered based on the SPB-100 Constitution.

A couple of reminders. First, all pitching limits, starters and relievers, will be enforced this season. Second, the new bonus batter limits are in effect, anyone who bats under .235 receives 75 bonus AB's (This should help greatly in the Deadball Era).  Third, bonus relievers in SPB-100 are 3.50 and higher (not 4.50).  Lastly, Chris will be resending guidelines prior to the start of the season on how to set your MP's for the Deadball era so the your players are used properly, like remembering to set your individual pitchers profiles to NEVER pinch hit for.

1906 Phase I & II Drafts Completed as Eddie Collins goes 1st overall in draft day deal.
LAS VEGAS, NV - The Phase I Draft has now been completed.  Thanks to everyone for making our first Phase I draft successful.  And how exciting that we saw the 1st overall pick traded right before the draft in a deal between the Sentinels and the Perfectos, with the boys from St. Louis getting the #1 pick and selecting Eddie Collins.  The Phase II has now been completed.  Looking at the harsh realities, all the assembled league members decided unanimously to revise the Phase II draft, so that each team will just select 2 players. A team still must lose 5 players before the roster is frozen. This rule change is in effect on an ad-hoc basis for this 1906 season only. Hopefully, we will have slightly larger rosters prior to the 1907 season, and we can go back to the normal Phase II protocol.

And one more reminder, the Phase I and Phase II drafts will be held on Saturday October 22, 2005 beginning at 11am CST.

One other important note. After reviewing the rosters, Chris and I have decided to make a slight modification to the Phase II cut down limits. Effective immediately, the following rule has been updated:
