(DNP Divisional Playoff) As they say, momentum is Next Day Starting Pitcher. Police presence was heavy the first
three innings “move along, nothing to see here”. Top of 4th Gary Pettis double to lead off the inning. Productive
ground out by Dwayne Murphy moves Pettis to 3rd. Steady Eddie brings him home with a hit up the middle. Back-to-back
two out doubles by Frank White & Gary Gaetti scores two more giving the visitors a 3-0 lead. Looking like a work out
video – up, down, up, down, up down – both teams offense goes quiet. Bob Welch will throw 120 pitches allowing 3
runs on 6 hits 1BB & 7Ks. BRM pitcher Bert Blyleven was cruising thru 9 – K’d Von Hayes to lead off the inning then
Mr Baseball HR’d to right. With two out – Ken Hrbek doubles down the left-field line. Exit Bert, enter Willie Hernandez.
His 6 blown saves weigh heavy on Brunners decision. Don Rahn makes some changes of his own: PR Marvell Wynee and PH Ted
Simmons. Ted weakly grounds back to the mound and a strike is thrown to Steady Eddie for the final out. After the
offensive barrage in the first game, home team NY Mets bats go silent.

single. A questionable move by The Rocket was called a BALK! Don Rahn charged out saying things only a New Yorker would
understand. Gary Ward grounded out to 1st allowing Murray to move to third. Frank White hit a rocket to 2nd, fielded by
Jack Perconte his throw home to Rick Dempsey was late – score TIED 1-1 . Dan Q-Berry working his 3rd inning started the
11th walking Alfredo Griffin. Two ground outs later had Griffin @ 3rd and Dave Parker – Co-MVP for a reason, singles him
home for a 2-1 lead. By A Vowel ends the inning with a weak pop up to SS. Leading 2-1 NY Mets have Donnie Moore pitching

we go again! BR faithful losing faith early. Bottom of 3rd finds the home team plate two to take the lead via a Dwayne
Murphy 2 run homer. Another sleeper of a game as no offense to mention till the home team 7th. A great rendition of Take
Me Out to the Ballgame by the fans got the Mountaineers
fired up. Nursing the 2-1 lead, Tony Armas lead off with a double. Playing small ball backfired as an attempted bunt
by Bob Boone ended with him on first and one out. Gary Pettis made the second out and it looked like another “nothing to
see here” type inning. Steady Eddie doubled off Oil Can ending his day, but not his pitching line. Dennis Lamp allowed
Gary Ward to single to right scoring Murray giving Boyd 6.2 ip 9 hits 4 runs 0B 6Ks. 7 consecutive innings of 0s for the
Mets as the home team got ready to bat bottom of 8th. FOUR runs later via 2 walks, 2 singles and 2 doubles give the home
team a 8-1 lead. Mr Baseball hits a one out double, followed by Dave Parkers run scoring single chasing Charlie Hough
after 8.1 ip 4 hits 2 runs 1B 5K and lowered his series ERA to 8.10. Jeff Lahti enticed two weak 6-3s to end the game.

Full house sees the Mets duo of Mr Baseball and Co-MVP Parker mix a single and double together for a 1 run lead. Bert escaped
a high leverage situation in the first stranding two on two hits and one walk. Not to be out done, Mountaineers worked two walks
from Sid and Tony “Run Into One” Armas grounded a single scoring Gary Ward from 2nd to tie the game 1-1. Bottom of 3rd, Gary Ward
lead off the inning with a walk a productive out from Eddie Murray and Armas single has runners on the corners with one out.
Frank White SF to center makes it 2-1 home team. Three Sid Fernandez walks turned into 2 runs. Frank White started the 6th
with a homer to center. After two outs, Gagne & Boone hit back to back singles only to see the momentum dies with a weak grounder
