Subject: First Set of SPB1958 files Sent.
All SPB II 1958 Managers, Here is the first set of files for the
coming 1958 season in SPB - II. Please check your rosters for accuracy,
and report any discrepancies to me at once. All trades have been made
through # 344.(the last reported one). All rookies are included of course
and can be viewed through the Org-Player tabs. NOTE: Rookies include
players lost from 1957 through the 50% rule.
A special note on rookies with previous MLB stats: Rookies this
year had MLB playing time added into their records from years previous to 1958,
all in instances where they failed to make enough appearances during those
years to make the rookie draft. This proceedure helps represent
the true full stat values that every player made in his MLB career. In
most cases, the appearances were very few and affect the overall
player only to a small degree. This will also help SPB teams by
adding a few more appearances as managers apply the extra AB, Starts, and
Reliefs to their quest to get through the season. Not a lot of help of
course, but every little bit helps. :) I had experimented with
this proceedure a couple of years ago in SPB IV (1976) with a season of
rookies, and it helped out. Anyway, I will try and do this with every
season if I have the time, from now on.
Here are the rookies who had previous MLB stats added in:
Frank Barnes (p)
Charlie Beamon (p)
John Briggs (p)
Mack Burk (c)
Chuck Churn (p)
Bennie Daniels (p)
Don Demeter (of)
Dutch Dotterer (c)
Curt Flood (of)
Jim Gentile (1b)
Gene Green (of-c)
Bill Hall (c)
Glen Hobbie (p)
Joey Jay (p)
Fred Kipp (p)
Barry Latman (p)
Angelo LePetri (p)
Ralph Lumenti (p)
Ed Mayer (p)
Milt Pappas (p)
Joe Pignatano (c)
Tom Qualters (p)
Charlie Rabe (p)
Mel Roach (2b)
John Romonosky (p)
Don Rudolph (p)
Bob Shaw (p)
Marv Throneberry (1b)
George Witt (p)
Hal Woodeshick (p)
This list is only the rookies who qualify for the rookie draft in
1958 with previous MLB stats added in. In a very few instances,
the previous MLB stats added in gave a player enough to meet the SPB
qualifications to be included (15 games, at bats or IP) in this years
draft. All other rookies for 1958 had no previous MLB stats.
I wish all of you good luck in the coming 1958 season! 1958 rookie
& Phase II drafts will be on October 28th. Now that the 1958
files are released, trading will step up agin in preparations for the
coming season.
Best,
Gary
