20-year-old Dave Boswell tossed a 1-hit shutout as the Lions salvaged a 3rd win in their 7 games 
series hosting the Frankfort Fortress.  The only hit he surrendered was a 1-out infield single to 
slugger Rocky Colavito in the 4th inning.  It was the first hit of the game for both teams, but the 
Lions’ first hit in the bottom of the 4th was the game-winner: a solo HR by Johnny Lewis.  Eddie Mathews 
and Len Gabrielson hit doubles in the 6th for an insurance run.  The win was Bozie’s 4th against a single 
loss and dropped his ERA to 2.36.
 
The entire series was like watching paint dry.  The Fortress pitchers posted a sterling 1.20 ERA, but 
the Lions weren’t far behind at 1.86.  (Makes doing tax returns seem exciting!)
