East Kenosha rookie pitcher Johnny Lee “Blue Moon” Odom achieved his place in SPB history 
today with a 1-0 CG no-hitter.  He yielded just two walks to the Seattle Totems, thrilling 
the crowd of 12,256 Lions faithful at Live In The Sunshine Stadium.  The only run was a long 
4th-inning HR by Floyd Robinson who deposited a fastball from tough-luck loser Sammy Ellis 
into Lake Michigan.  Odom required 112 pitches to complete his no-hitter.  It was Odom’s 5th 
start of his career, his first CG and shutout.
 
Ironically, Odom’s only involvement with a no-hitter 
was a combined no-hitter after he was traded to the White Sox in 1976.  He pitched the first 
5 innings, facing 1 batter in the 6th before being relieved by Francisco Barrios who completed 
the 2-1 no-hitter against the Oakland A’s, Odom’s former team.  Odom walked 9 in those 5 innings, 
and gave up an unearned run.  It was to be Odom’s last win as a ML pitcher.
