Game 1 promised a great matchup of HoF Aces, Fergie Jenkins(24-9, 2.57) vs Tom Seaver(17-13, 3.31).
Unlike the regular season, Seaver lived up to his nickname, “Tom Terrific”, allowing just one hit,
one walk and striking out 14 in the complete game shutout. Jenkins faltered a little late, taking

The action moved to Candelstick Park for game 3. Starters were Rudy May(14-6, 3.26) for the
Gladiators and Mike Hedlund(19-9, 2.41) for the Wild Weasels. The Gladiators started hot with
a 4-run 1st. The Wild Weasels got right back in the game with 2 in the bottom of the 1st.
After exchanging runs, the Wild Weasels had a big 4-run 5th to take a 7-5 lead. The Gladiators
threatened in the 9th, but Eddie Watt got a big double play that plated a run but removed the
tying run from 2nd. The Gladiators lead was cut to 2-1.
