Game 1: Chicago (Warren Spahn 21-8, 3.07) at Brooklyn (Ewell Blackwell 22-6, 3.10)
October baseball for the fans at Ebbets field. Stampers strike 1st in the top of the 3rd on 3 hits
a walk and a sacrifice. However Brooklyn comes right back in the bottom to tie the game at 2 on Blackwell's
hr a few hits and an error. Chicago lucky to not give up more as the bases were loaded with no outs.
Stampers get lead back in 6th, but can't hold on as Royal Giants tie again in the 8th. Chicago fortunate
again this time throwing out a runner at the plate.
Game goes to extras and in the top of the 11th Johnny Wyrostek goes yard for the 4-3 lead. Mickey McDermott
gets in a little trouble in the bottom but gets Richie Ashburn out with men on 1st and 2nd

Brooklyn scores 1st in this one as Ray Boone hit a 2-out 3-run HR in the bottom of the 3rd for the early lead.
Stampers get 1 back immediately but Raschi is dominant taking the 3-1 lead to the 9th. Chicago gets its first
2 men on but then makes back to back outs. Back to back singles tie the game and sends it to extras as the
Royal Giants go quietly in the bottom
Top 10 Chicago plates a run on a hit and a bunch of walks. In the bottom Sal Maglie comes on to save.
He gets the 1st out, but then gives up a walk. Pinch hitter Joe DiMaggio makes the 2nd out. Sid Gordon walks
and Ralph Kiner is walked intentionally on a 3-0 count to bring up Vern Stephens with the bases loaded. Vern
lashes a single to the left center gap for the win

Game 5: Brooklyn (Blackwell 0-0) at Chicago (Spahn 0-0)
Rematch of game 1 finally sees Brooklyn not put up a 3 spot early. In fact this time it is Chicago
scoring early with an unearned run in the 1st. After Royal Giants tie game in the top of the 3rd,
Jackie hits a 2-run hr and Spahn drives in 2 for the 5-1 Chicago lead thru 3 complete. Brooklyn get
2 back in the top of the 6th on Dom DiMaggio's triple and a sac fly and Blackwell get stingy. In the
top of the 8th the visitors do damage with 2-out. With a man on consecutive hits from Stephens, Boone
and pinch hitter extraordinaire Merson give the lead to Brooklyn after 8 complete.
Brooklyn loads bases in top of 9th with one out, but fail to capitalize as a double play ends the inning.
Both managers commented on the importance of the play. They were immediately proven correct as Sam Jethroe
homered to lead off the bottom of the 9th. Brazle comes on and allows a single, two outs and a walk put
men on 1st and 2nd for Erv Dusek. Dusek takes an 0-1 pitch to left center for the game winning hit.

Game 6: Chicago (Bobby Shantz 6-2, 2.47) at Brooklyn (Rachi 0-0)
Back to Ebbets and the home team in a must win position. Chicago is fired up from the get go and plates
4 in the 1st with 2-outs thanks to a wild pitch an error and a Kryhoski double. Ralph Kiner gets 2 back
in the bottom, but Robinson hits a 3-run shot in the top of the 2nd for the 7-2 lead. Neither team threatens
until the top of the 5th when Chicago goes up 8-2 with another 2-out rbi.
Bottom of the 6th sees Brooklyn get 3 back off of Maglie with 2 walks, 2 single and an HBP. Maglie gets
out of trouble with a double play grounder and a fielders choice, but the Royal Giants cut the lead to 8-5
after 6 complete
Nothing in the 7th, but in the bottom of the 8th here comes Brooklyn again. A lead off single and walk are
followed by a sacrifice to put men on 1st and 2nd for Solly Hemus. Hemus singles to left, but is thrown out
at 2nd as the throw home is cut off. The lead is down to 8-7.
Chicago goes 1-2-3 in it's half of the 9th and McDermott is in for the bottom. Ashburn grounds out, Dom fans
and Gordon grounds out to end the game.

MVP is probably Robinson for his performance from middle of game 4 onward. He started 2-14, but went 4-9
