=========================================== The following River City Rugrats are available for draft picks: OF - Morrie Arnovich: 352 ABs, .250 BA SS - BIll Lillard: 206ABs, .238 BA P - Whitey Moore: 3.63 ERA, 15 Starts, 60 K's P - Oral Hildebrand: 1.86 ERA Thanks =========================================== The Arsenal are moving kind of slow, but are in need of a decent SS or FT 1B'man. I can offer Roy Cullenbine or one of my 3 catchers (Peacock, Warren and Davis) as well as potentially a draft choice in the deal. ========================================== Moving right along, the Monsters are putting a 1st RDP (8) in the 1940 draft on the trade block. We can't give it away, but we are looking a a quality player or players with AB's or appearences this year and good future (if they are wartime players, I am willing to look at them too). We also have OF Ernie Koy (.306 BA in 400 AB's) available for a less OF with more AB's. We are ready to deal and will respond quickly to all offers. Take Care, Mike See =========================================== This is a very bad team. Probably the worst I have every taken over. Certainly a long ways off from my Juggernaut Detroit Wolverines Franchise (now the Grays) that I left after the 1937 season! Hugh, nice work at keeping the team on top my friend!! Now, we don't have much, and we have already dealt Schumacher and Cavarretta. But we need a ton of AB's. C, 3B, and I need AB's to cover 2 OF Spots. Obviously we are looking for some future. Would be very tough for me to part with Rudy York, but if someone offered the farm, I would listen (it would have to be overpaying! LOL)! My other nice player (it is ugly) it SP Whthlow Wyatt, who for the next four seasons is probably one of the best pitchers in the league (he really is great). Pretty much anyone else can be had, and if you have excess that you might lose in the phase II, I have a 3rd RDP (4) I can deal in a 2 or 3 for 1 for AB's. The previous owner traded this teams 5th and 6th, so I am pretty limited on what I can do with draft picks. Anyways, if you are feeling charitable, and want to make donations, give us a buzz! Take Care, Mike See ==================================== As a safeguard I'm looking for some of At bats. I have some crappy one year pitchers you can have. Terry Buchanan Pocono Tomahawks ====================================== Still looking for a RP with 20-30 apps. I have an OPB PH in Red Nonnenkampf to offer. Offer your tired, sick and old P's. I might take one! Terry Arsenal ================================== The Western Panthers’ would entertain offers for 3B Eric McNair. I’m not looking for anything in particular, but seeing if someone wants to upgrade at 3B. Rick ===================================== I have an excess of Ofer's and Jimmy Ripple wants a new home. Looking for pitching help for this year, or Reynolds can be had for pitching. Terry ========================================= For your last minute shopping needs, the following River City Rugrats are available: 2b/3b - Alex Kampouris - 201 ABs, .249 BA, .403 SLG OF - Johnny Welaj - 201 ABs, .274 BA, .318 OBP, 13 sb P - Harry Kimberlin - 5.49 ERA - 17 games or 34 bonus Operators are standing by.................. ========================= The Muckdogs could use another body at 2b. We have OFs Chet Clemens and Eddie Collins Jr available. We could also trade one of the following 3 pitchers (Bob Joyce, George Gill or Emerson Dickman). Thanks, Joe ========================== Following the completion of teh draft I will need the following to cover my at bats in the upcoming season. Catcher 150 at bats Shortstop 200 at bats (Thanks a lot Rich!) I have some excess pitching and draft picks. I do not want to totatlly ruin the franchise by using high picks. Terry Buchanan ======================= The New Paris Mules find that they have 2 somewhat desirable players available for draft picks. Outfielder Sam West is available (390 AB .282 Avg, .387 obp) not much power, but he plays all 3 of positions at Vg with a Vg arm in 1939, he's around through 1942 as a sub. Second sacker Ollie Bejma (307 AB .251 Avg, .331 obp) some power, this is the final season for the South Bend born player. If you've got a slot open on your keeper roster, I'll take a 4th rounder for each or a 3rd rounder for both. I've got 1st pick in Phase II, so if they happen to be the best out there I'll take them. Lynn M ========================= All 1939 Managers, I can supply you with a pair of decent hitting OF's totally nearly 400 1939 AB's. I have Bob Seeds, a RH pull hitter, who can hit the long ball, and is a nice batter off the bench. I also have speedy Lee Gamble, a LH batter, who also is a nice runner who can swipe a base when needed. Seeds has 173 AB's and hits .266. Gamble has 221 AB's and hits .267. Either one can be had for a mere 4th round 1939 draft pick. If your short a few AB's in the OF this season, these guys can help you through. Or you can take the pair for a 3rd rounder. All offers answered promptly! Best, Gary ====================== Git 'em while they're hot! Willing to deal HOF Mel Ott .... 6-7 great seasons left! Cheap like borscht!! ====================== Return would be a front line starting pitcher with at least as many seasons left i n his career. Alternate choice: Non - Hall of Fame 3B Lew Riggs, 500+ AB's this year. In return, at least 50-60 ordinary to decent relief appearances. John Saunders jsaunders7@shaw.ca ==================== Hi All, The RVers find themselves without a backup 1st baseman and short 1 pitching start. These can be the absolute worst of the lot. I have nothing to offer except draft picks and some odd ball catchers. All offers will be responded to promptly. Thanks, Lynn M ==================== Odessa finds itself in the position of too much at 3rd, too little in relief. I need some appearances - don't have to be that good, but the more the better. On offer, I can give you a full time 3B, Riggs (531 AB); alternatively one of several OF (Walker, Heinrich, Hoag, West, Finney) Quality of RP offered will determine who goes. Thanks. ============================ Lousy hitting C Chervinko and his 102 ABs are on the trading block. A 5th rounder would get this bum. Terry Baxter ============================ Arsenal need another Relief Pitcher for 1938. I have C Chervinko, who has 102 crappy Abs I could trade for a bum relevier with 30 or so appearances. Dickshot could be traded also, or a draft choice. Not looking for anyone very good, but 30 or so appearances a must. ================ I thought Beau Bell would be rated at 1B, but he only played 4 games there in 1938. So I find my team short 150 ABs at 1B. I have the follwing players available for a 1-1 swap: C Herb Bremer, 151 ABs (226 bonus) CMerv Shea, 120 ABs (195 bonus) C Johnny Riddle, 57 ABs, .281 ave, .328 obpct OF Harl Maggert, 89 ABs, .281 ave, .354 obpct Thanks, Joe ===================== The Western Panthers are in need of additional pitching, preferably of the relief variety. I'd be interested in short or long-term candidates. Thanks, Rick ================ Guys: Ripper Collins and my 4th round pick are available for any extra players out there. Don’t really need more pitching, but could use some INF additions. Rick Western Panthers ======================= 2b - Jackie Hayes: VG second baseman, with a .328 batting average in 238 ABs. He also hit 21 doubles, and walked 24x while only striking out 6. OF - Mel Mazzera: 204 AB's, .279 BA. .426 SLG. 6 HRs. ================================= In the market for an excellent fulltime or part time 1B for the 1938 season? Or do you just need an upgrade there? I have two very good 1B for this year, and future seasons available. First, there is Zeke "Banana Nose" Bonura. Zeke has plenty of power and packs a wallop at the plate. He has 3 years left as a regular player though 1940. He is a hard hitting LH batter with plenty of pop. He is also a VG fielder for 1938. Here are his stats for the next 3 seasons: Year G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB K BA OBA SLG 1938 137 540 72 156 27 3 22 114 2 2 44 29 .289 .346 .472 1939 123 455 75 146 26 6 11 85 1 46 22 .321 .388 .477 1940 128 493 61 133 30 3 7 65 3 0 50 17 .270 .338 .385 I will take an offer of a decent hitting SS with at least 3 years left, or decent pitcher with 3 years, or draft choices, or combo. Zeke could be a big improvement over what you have now. Check it out. The second 1B I have available is Phil Weintraub, who would make a great LH platoon for this coming season. This year he has 351 AB, has 23-2-4 extra base hits. But the best part is he hits .311 with 64 walks! This gives him a fine OBA of .422. Nice! Phil then fades into oblivion for a few years, but suddenly comes back in two of the war years as a nice powerhitting 1B. In 1944, he has 361 AB with 18-9-13 ebh, and marks of .316 BA, .416 OBA, and .534 SLG. He is down from that in '45, but still has good power and very good OBA & SLG marks his final year. These last two years are worth keeping him, because it is very tough to find good power hitters, who also can get on base during the war years. I would be interested in the same type of trade for Phil, only on a lesser scale. SS help for 39-40, pitching, draft picks, or a combo of some type. He is an AV runner & fielder in '38. Phil can give your team a boost! All offers responded to promptly. Would like to move BOTH of these hard hitters before the 1938 draft in late February. Best, Gary ====================== As the draft approaches, a reminder that Dizzy Dean is available to the right club. Only 11 starts this year, but they're the best in the game (1.80 ERA, 0.95 WHIP); and 14 high-quality starts in 1939, too (3.38 ERA, 1.20 WHIP), as well as being available out of the pen. Looking for a draft choice anywhere between the middle of the 3rd and middle of the 4th rounds. Very reasonable for a legendary figure who can help you at the margin or put you in contention. Will consider offers until this Sunday (1/21). Hugh/Worcester ======================= The Brooklyn Royal Giants don't have much of a chance over the next few years and would hate to see the final years of superstar Jimmie Foxx go to waste on a cellar-dweller. Foxx has 4 excellent years left, including an MVP season in 1938 and an MVP runner-up year in 1939. I'm looking for youth and draft picks. I am not looking to deal him cheap. Other players can be had as swell. The only untouchable is 23-year-old Joe DiMaggio (he looks promising). Just send me an email. Don Rahn ================================ Hey Guys, It appears that the Grays and Ol' Diz could be parting company this year, and he might provide an important edge to the right club. Dean can make 11 starts in 1938, and they should be the best 11 starts available anywhere since he checks in with a miniscule 1.80 ERA and 0.95 WHIP. He can get 14 high-quality starts in 1939 as well (3.38 ERA and 1.20 WHIP) and work some out of the pen. Looking for a pick in the lower half of the 3rd round, will consider a pick near the top of Round 4. Hugh/Worcester ======================= Mungo is avialable for a low 3rd rounder and a bum pitcher. You won't find 20 decent starts in the 3rd round. Terry Baxter ========================= To SPB 1938 Managers, The Muck Dogs have SS Red Kress on the block. He bats .302 (.378 obp) in 566 at bats! We're looking for a catcher or pitcher, starter preferred. Thanks, Joe ======================= The Arsenal have several part timers available for draft choices; 1. Merv Shea, C, 193 SPB ABs, .183-.333-.225, Def= Fr Av, VG steal 2. Herb Bremer, c, 226 SPB Abs, .219-.262-.305, Def = Av Fr, run = AV 3. Jimmy Dykes, 2B, 89 AB, .303-.374-.461, Def = AV 4. Mickey Haslin, 2/3, 102 AB .324-.361-.441, Def= Av Fr Mungo is available for a decent draft choice and a P that can play a couple of years. Make an Offer! ==================== Gents I'd like to offer outfielder Pete Fox and catchers Gilly Campbell and Joe Glenn for trade for draft picks in the upcoming SPB III draft. All can help the right team, and I'm not asking a lot for them. Any interest? thanks Mike Baroda38 ========================= All, The Detroit Wolverines are putting to pretty solid hitters on the market, including a Hall of Famer. If you still need IF Abs at 1b or 3b, or a looking for a backup there who would make a nice PH as well, we have available 1b/3b Jimmy Dykes - Jimmy can play 1b and 3b and also has 85 quality ABs', batting .306 with a .372 OBP. He also comes back in 1938 as a solid PH. If you need AB's at 2b, we can offer Hall of Fame 2b Rogers Hornsby, who has 56 Ab's and hits .321 with a .391 OBP is his last season. What would we accept for these former all time greats? We would like to upgrade a little at the pitching position. Not looking for bonus types, we are looking a someone with quality appearences. I would be willing to explore combing one or both of the above player with RP Herman Fink, who is pretty decent himself (28 G, 4.05) to get a pitcher with a few more appearence and a little better quality. As always, we are quick to pull the trigger on deals and respond fast, so if your interested, send in your offers. We look forward to hearing from you! Thanks Mike See Detroit Wolverines SPB-1937 ======================= Gentlemen: I have a distinct need for additional relief pitching. Anyone have any extra available? Rick Western Panthers ================================= I've been unable to solve some of my gaping holes, and need to put together a package that hopefully can meet my needs. My playing time needs are: 75 -100 backup AB at either 1st or SS A 1/2 to full time CF. Some relief appearances. draft choices? For this, I can offer a package that would include a full time OF (Solters: .323/ ..372/ .533) as well as one of Lew Riggs - 2nd, 3rd, 384 decent AB's Buddy Myer - top of the line 2b Roy Hughes - 2nd and 3rd, very useful hitter and a pitcher: Phebus - 5 starts, 2.21 ERA Hutchinson - useful for the next 5 years Bill Swift Lyons, although that makes it a bit more expensive Obviously, the expectation is that if I'm giving away 2-3 full time players I'll get back more than 75 horrible AB's at SS and some guy with a 5.76 ERA in relief. The players I named are the guys I can afford to part with, but I'd like to get value for them. I really want to try and work a several player deal to make this work, rather than RP for RP, and then have to go shopping for the other missing pieces. Let me know if you have any interest. Thanks. John Odessa Files ============================ To all 1937 Managers, In addition to the Red Kress offer, the Muckdogs also have an abundance of "pitchers" that could be packaged to a team in need of appearances in 1937. In return, we're looking for one decent pitcher in 1937. Any 3 or 4 of the following pitchers can be yours for the right offer: Lloyd Brown, L Sugar Cain, R Bill Hallahan, L Frank Makosky, R Pat Malone, R Pat McLaughlin, R Ted Olson, R Tommy Thomas, R Jim Walkup, R Thanks, Joe ============================== The Odessa Files are preparing for training camp at their facility on the Black Sea this spring, and have decided they need to make a couple of moves. Moose Solters, he of the almost 600 AB's and .323/.372/.533 line, has indicated an unwillingness to take the boat over this year, and would welcome a trade. File Management would like to accomodate him. In return, we would like to see some 1B AB's (100-150 would do), and a few average relief appearances. Cheap at half the price. Actually, any OF on the roster is available, except Ott. That means Dixie Walker, who has a long and solid career ahead of him, Gene Moore, a 1937 all star, and back ups Stenibacher, Davis, Gorman. In short, a surfeit of outfielders, from scrubs to stars, and a need for relief pitching and back up first base. Of course, if you want a full timer like Walker, the price is higher. John Odessa. ================================== Gentlemen: The Western Panthers are looking for additional pitching help, primarily relief appearances. We have OF Buster Mills available for trade and would also consider draft picks. Thanks, Rick Ryan Western Panthers ============================ To all 1937 Managers, Red Kress is available for trade. We are looking for a utility infielder, with a similar number of at bats at 2b and 3b especially. ====================== Rock Island is in need of a C with 300 Abs.
