Subject: Original SPB IV Manager Leaves. New Manager
Announced.
To All SPB IV Managers, An original member of SPB IV is dropping this
league, as he endevours to take some of his free time for some more life
achieving goals. Rick Ryan has resigned his post as manager of the
Rossville Ramblers in SPB IV. Rick is wanting to devote some more of his
time to a new boat, and flying lessons. These are two things he has wanted
for years. I hate to see Rick cut back in SPB, but he assures me he will
be remaining in several SPB Leagues. So I take stock in that. ;)
Meanwhile it is in our good fortune that we have a willing and able veteran
replacement for him. I am happy to announce the appointment of Albert
"Doc" Schweitzer as the new manager of this franchise. New team name is
the Oyster Bay Nukes. He will remain in Wrigley Field. Here is a
press release from New Jersey from our newest SPB IV manager:
Well it appears that that new (and old at the same time)
upstart owner Albert "Doc" Schweitzer has purchased the Rossville Rambler
organization for an undisclosed amount of Cash and "considerations" from
stalwart owner Rick Ryan! Shocking to say the least!!!! Former Owner Rick
Ryan could not be reached for comment at press time, but New owner Doc
Schweitzer( wielding new found wads of cash recently,-this is his fourth
organizational purchase in less than a full year), was quoted as
saying..."Listen up people, I'm in this for the long haul. I don't make a
purchase unless I see some intrinsic value. Mr Ryan wanted out, and I see upside
potential here--its as simple as that" When asked if he was going to move
the team, "Doc"(as he prefers to be called) said...."Unfortunately for the
Rossville faithful, I will be relocating the former Ramblers. I'm Moving them to
Oyster Creek N.J., and from henceforth, they will simply be known as "The Oyster
Creek Nukes"." When pushed further on this shocking news story, Schweitzer
was asked "what about the stadium, you know, what about Wrigley Field???"
Schweitzer was very quick with the response to that question..."I knew you were
going to ask me that, yes yes...we are already in the process of creating an
exact replica of beautiful Wrigley Field to the very seat and to the ivy on the
outfield brick wall. It will have all the dimensions of Wrigley, but this new
Wrigley will just happen to be located in N.J.
The new name of the field
will be called "Dream Field", because this is my dream, and is a meld of that
with one of my favorite movies, obviously "Field
of Dreams". When they finally demolish old Wrigley because of
"progress"(as I've heard rumored), I will have spent my inherited wealth on
"Regress", because I am doing what I can to preserve a national treasure in a
unique way that I CAN. as a matter of fact---there will be NO LIghts at Dream
Field, only day games. Call it "regress"--I'm tired of "progress"!!!!!
Also--I don't care if society works during the day, and nobody comes to our
games at all. I'll be there!!! Thas all that matters to me!
But you know what they said in that movie don't ya??......BUILD IT, AND THEY
WILL
COME"."
With those final words, Schweitzer made a sudden dash away from reporters, and
dissappeared from sight. He's been known to do quirky things like that, and he's
always spoken of as a little "Half-crazed"--but it appears to this
reporter---that he just "dances to the beat of his own drum" and nobody elses.
You got to admire his spontaneity and eccentricity, if you don't, you'll never
know this man and what he's all about. One thing for sure, its obvious---HE
LOVES
BASEBALL!
Fresh off the
Presses!
Doc Schweitzer
Please welcome Doc to SPB IV! His email address can be found on the
managers page of the SPB website. His manager info for SPB IV will soon be
added to the IV webpage by John Turnbull, our beloved webmaster!
Best,
Gary
