SPB60-1965 World Series GAME 5
The Louisiana Lightning have won the 1965 World Series over the
team that had shocked the league, the Frankfort Frigates 4 games to 1
out scoring them 32-17 in the series.
Bob Gibson won 2 games in the series and Bob Veale won his 29th overall
to finish at an incredible 29-1 for the year.
As was throughout the season the offense was led by Roberto Clemente
.478 and Vada Pinson .375. Ernie Banks had 7 RBI over the 5 games
leading the way there.
Needless to say, I am excited. My wife even asked me if I was going to
have a parade!
In all honesty, I give the majority of the credit for this team to Mike
See. I made some key trades to make it more my own, Banks, Dierker,
McMahon, and Chance, and drafting Beckert and Locker.
I will allow the league gurus to give out the stats DB, just wanted to
brag a little bit. Last World Series I think I was in was in the old
United Baseball League (heard of that Dave Lauer?) using the Big League
Manager game. I lost in that series and to my knowledge ( I am getting
older), I've never been back, so this is sweet.
To Gary Plunkett, fantastic season and playoffs. Nothing to be ashamed
of at all, you gave 'em heck while it lasted!
Last announcement, the team will be relocating to Kansas City for next
year becoming the Kansas City Scouts, so Mr. Williams, when you create
1966, keep this in mind. I kept the Louisiana Lightning in honor of Mike
See's last team, so now we can return to our true home.
