Grover and his Sin City Mobsters on the becoming the inaugural champion of
SPB-60. There were some absolutely INCREDIBLE games, with some amazing
comeback wins, and including a Game 7 coming down two a bases loaded final AB
showdown in a 1 run game. This was the first appearance in a World Series for
both owners, and along with my congrats to Greg, I would also like to
congratulate "Doc" Schweitzer, for his first pennant in SPB and a great season.

All SPB-60 Managers, the 1949 Rookie Draft Order has now been

this, and Dave Lauer's East Kenosha Lakers won the right to make the first
selection of the 1949 rookie draft. Joe Dezarlo's Newark Bears will pick second,

Team Name and Stadium Changes for 1949
season.
LAS VEGAS, NV. -
All SPB-60 Managers, Gary Plunkitt has decided to relocate the
former Vaughn Street Shipwreckers to his home town of Frankfort, Indiana, and
will be known as the Frankfort Frigates. In addition, the Frigates
will be moving their home field to Briggs Stadium. Always quick to react,
Joe Dezarlo immediately occupied Gary's former park (Ebbets Field) making the
available stadium Forbes Field and Comisky Park. Mike See has decided to
relocate his team from Las Vegas to Louisiana to become the Louisiana
Lightning. The Lightning have decided to call Forbes Field their
new home. And lastly, Terry Baxter will be relocating his Joliet Jakes
from Forbes Field to the Polo Grounds. This leaves Comiskey Park and
Crosley Field as the two available parks in SPB-60.

1948 Regular season completed.
1948 World Series set.
LAS VEGAS, NV. - The first season of
SPB-60 is in the books. In the A.L. a huge congratulations got out the
Albert "Doc Schweitzer and his Asbury Park Titans, as they win their
final 12 in a row to take the AL flag by 7 games over the 90 win Ahabs and Six.
I believe this is Al's first ever pennant winner in SPB, so I'm sure this is
especially sweet! In the NL, it was no contest, as the mighty Sin City
Mobsters cruised to the title by 12 games, over a late surging Joliet Jakes.
The is Greg's first pennant as well (CONGRATS Greg!) so we will have a all first
timer match up in the World Series in 1948! All 1948 Regular season stats
are now posted.

August 1948 Stats Now Posted.
LAS VEGAS, NV. - The fifth month of
the season is in the books. In the NL, Greg Grover's Sin City
Mobsters have all but locked up the pennant, leading by 12 games, in spite of
the Joliet Jakes inspired August play (18-8), which saw them climb to second
place. In the AL, what was a
very tight race between the Asbury Titans and the New Bedford Ahabs has now
become a three team race, led by the "Miracle" Wabash Six (22-6 in August) of
Bill Lanke, which came out of nowhere to take a 4 game lead heading into
September play.

New Seasons Past League readies its launch back into the
"Golden Age" of baseball!
LAS VEGAS, NV -
We hope you will consider joining this new SPB league. 1948 was a
great season with aging stars such as Johnny Mize, Walker Cooper,
Charlie Keller, Tommy Henrich and Joe DiMaggio, established stars
in their prime like Stan Musial, Ted Williams, Bob Feller, Del
Ennis, Ralph Kiner, Hank Sauer, Enos Slaughter, Warren Spahn,
Johnny Sain (and pray for Rain!), Lou Boudreau, Joe Gordon, Bobby
Doerr, and rising young stars such as Richie Ashburn, Roy
Campanella, Yogi Berra Pee Wee Reese, Carl Erskine, Jackie
Robinson and Larry Doby. And I'm sure I have forgotten many! Many
of us weren't around for the SPB-II 1948 season, and maybe a few
wouldn't mind replaying it with different players. Sign up for
soon to play the Golden Era of baseball!
